All are part of the Family
Unitarian Universalism insists that all are part of the human family, worthy of dignity, respect and love. UUs recently celebrated more than 500 years of liberal religious faith.
Our Beginnings
In March 1966, several Northfield residents who knew something about Unitarian Universalism got together to found a fellowship. They wrote and subsequently signed the following statement.
We desire a religious organization which shall make integrity of life its first aim and provide for the free expression and discussion of religious convictions, human ideals and conscience. We associate ourselves as the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northfield and welcome into its membership all persons of whatever theological views who wish to unite with us in the promotion of truth and charity among men and women.
Twelve people signed this statement on March 20, 1966, at the initial meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northfield. Two of these founders, Fred and Marge Keip, left Northfield after a while to study for the ministry and now jointly serve a Unitarian Universalist church in Monterey, California. By the end of 1966 eight more people joined UUFN. Over the intervening years UUFN has varied in size from 12 to 30 active members. Today the fellowship has about 50 members, and the congregation continues to grow.
